Bexar County Community Profile 

Purpose

Komen San Antonio created the Community Profile to better understand Bexar County and become more responsive to breast cancer healthcare gaps in formation and care. The Profile identifies priority areas based on demographic information, input from neighborhood focus groups and the medical community.

The  Community Profile is a report completed every four years. It helps us take a closer look at our community and how we can better serve the people who need us the most.

The Community Profile will allow the us to:

  • Develop grant funding and programming priorities
  • Fund, educate and build awareness in the areas of greatest need
  • Make data-driven decisions about how to use its resources in the best way

2015 Community Profile

Forty zip codes in Bexar County were identified as areas needing the most support.

  • The zip codes were chosen because they have lower education levels with higher poverty and uninsured rates, compared to other areas in Bexar County.

Because of these disparities, we are learning what barriers and challenges exist for these populations in getting breast cancer services.
